Sunnyhills Celebrates Diwali

 Hi Whanau

Today we celebrated Diwali by dressing up in traditional clothes and having an assembly to learn more about the festival of lights. It was lovely to see so many students from Sunnyhills share where they came from and show us their costumes.

Here are ours...

Te Wiki O Te Reo Maori - Maori Language Week

Yesterday we started to celebrate Maori Language week. We have been learning how to say Ke Te Pehea Koe? How are you? with Miss Strydom. And we were also super lucky to see Mrs Harding who taught us some new words in Te Reo like Te Ra (sun) and Marama (moon).

What have you been doing to celebrate Te Wiki O Te Reo Maori?

Neverland Studios and Buddies

Wow what a week we have had! So full of exciting activities and fun learning experiences.

We were so lucky on Monday to have had Giselle from Neverland Studios come and teach us a small hip hop dance. It was so much fun to practise and then perform to each other.

Here is a video of our dance. Aren't we great!

On Friday we were extremely excited to see our buddies again. Our big year six buddies from Room 2 came to our class and we had a colouring in competition!

Distance Learning 14th May 2020

Good Morning Room 22

We are getting closer and closer to go back to school. I hope you are all excited! I will be going into school on Friday to make sure our class is all ready for us when we all come in on Monday.

When we come back to school you will all have your own desk and chair to sit at and your own place to put your school bag. You will also need to have a clean tin or pencil case to put some pencils in that only you will be using.

Today I have not set a learning challenge. I want you to blow me away with whatever learning activity you choose to do. I can't wait to see what it is that you have chosen.

Have a wonderful day!

Yesterday Jacinda Ardern announced that we will all get to go back to school next week on Monday. I hope your excited, I know I am.

Today your learning challenge is from our Maths slide on our distance learning slideshow. We are going to make paper chains. I wonder how long you can make yours? How many pieces of paper do you think you will use? Can you hang it around your home? Can you use it to measure things around your home?

If your not sure how to make a paper chain check out these instructions from wikihow.com

It has been wonderful seeing some of your beautiful faces on our Google Meets and hearing all about your news. You have all had exciting things to share and have done a great job asking and answering questions of each other.

Today I challenge you to be CURIOUS. Let's use our growth GEM and find out how many steps it takes to walk around our houses. I wonder how many steps it will take me to walk around my house? When I find out, I will put the answer in the comments below.

Don't forget to keep sending me pictures and videos of your learning. It is amazing to see you all be creative and do different things to keep your brain and your GEMS growing.
